In Windows, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: powercfg /batteryreport — then open the generated HTML report. Look at "Design Capacity" vs "Full Charge Capacity". If full charge is below 60% of design capacity, replace it. Other signs: laptop shuts off before 0%, Windows shows "Consider replacing your battery", or battery is not detected at all.
